Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-30. These terms govern use of the TradeStar Insider service — the website www.tradestarinsider.com, the REST API at api.tradestarinsider.com, and the MCP server at mcp.tradestarinsider.com/mcp (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

The Service surfaces public U.S. regulatory filing data — primarily SEC EDGAR Form 4 insider-transaction filings, and USAspending.gov award data — through a website, a REST API, and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Every record links to its source filing. There are no user accounts on the website or the MCP server.

2. Not investment advice

The Service provides information, not investment advice. Nothing it returns is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy or sell any security, nor an endorsement of any strategy. The data describes what public filings say; it does not predict returns. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions and should consult a licensed financial professional before acting. Past insider activity does not indicate future performance.

3. Data source and accuracy

Data originates from public sources (SEC EDGAR, USAspending.gov). Each figure the Service returns is traceable to a parsed field in a specific source filing, identified by its filing URL. We make a good-faith effort to parse filings correctly and to link each record to its origin, but we do not warrant that the data is complete, current, or error-free: source filings may contain errors, be amended, or be filed late, and our coverage window is stated on every response. Always verify against the linked primary filing before relying on any figure. If a returned value does not match its source filing, that is a bug — please report it (see Contact).

4. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for lawful purposes, including commercial ones, subject to these terms. You agree not to:

We may throttle, suspend, or block access that breaches these terms or threatens the Service's stability, without notice where necessary to protect the Service.

5. Tiers and availability

A free tier (the website, the MCP server, and free REST routes) and a paid API tier (through RapidAPI, under RapidAPI's own terms) are offered. The Service is provided on a best-effort basis and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time. We do not guarantee any particular uptime, latency, or coverage on the free tier. Current operational status is published at status.tradestarinsider.com.

6. Intellectual property

The underlying filing data is public U.S. government information and is not claimed as our property. Our client libraries and example code are released under the MIT license (see the public repository). The TradeStar Insider name and branding remain ours. When you redistribute records obtained from the Service, retain each record's source-filing link.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of the Service shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or trading losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the free tier is provided at no charge, the operator's total aggregate liability arising from the free tier is limited to zero; for the paid tier it is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the three months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing law and operator

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — PENDING], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The Service is operated by:
